Description
Murakami 901 Red Liquid Blockout
When a blockout pen isn’t enough, Murakami 901 is the next step. Pinholes and small voids are pen territory — but larger open areas, torn emulsion sections, mesh edges, and tape-off zones need liquid blockout. The 901 Red formula is water-based, high-visibility red (so you can see what you’ve covered), and fully compatible with plastisol and water-based ink production runs. Brush it on, let it dry, and it holds.
High-Visibility Red
The red color makes coverage easy to verify before going to press — no guessing whether you’ve covered the problem area.
Water-Based Formula
Safe and easy cleanup with water. No harsh solvents needed for application or cleanup.
Large Area Coverage
Ideal for covering larger voids, torn emulsion areas, open mesh edges, and tape-off zones that pens can’t fill effectively.
Production-Grade Hold
Holds through full production runs under both plastisol and water-based ink systems without lifting or bleeding.
Fast Drying
Dries quickly at room temperature. Use a heat gun on low to accelerate drying in high-volume production.
Fully Reclaimable
Removes cleanly during standard screen reclaim with your existing emulsion remover — no special chemistry required.
When to Use Liquid Blockout
Torn Emulsion
When emulsion has lifted or torn around a design element, liquid blockout fills the gap and prevents ink bleed.
Open Mesh Edges
Bare mesh along screen edges needs to be blocked before printing to prevent ink from bleeding onto garments.
Large Voids
Any open area larger than a pin point should be handled with liquid blockout rather than a pen for reliable coverage.
Quick Screen Repair
Liquid blockout extends the life of a screen that would otherwise be reclaimed by repairing damage in minutes.
Pen vs. Liquid Blockout — Which Do I Need?
Blockout Pen: Precision tool for small pinholes and tiny voids. Fine tip, fast touch-up, minimal coverage area.
Liquid Blockout: Brush-on coverage for larger voids, torn emulsion, open mesh edges, and tape-off areas. Use when the pen isn’t big enough for the job.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When should I use liquid blockout instead of a blockout pen?
Use liquid blockout for any area larger than a small pinhole — torn emulsion sections, open mesh edges, tape-off coverage, or large voids in the stencil. Pens are for precision touch-ups; liquid is for coverage.
What color is Murakami 901?
Red — the high-visibility color makes it easy to confirm full coverage before going to press.
Is 901 compatible with water-based inks?
Yes. Murakami 901 is compatible with both plastisol and water-based ink production runs.
How do I apply Murakami 901?
Apply with a small brush or from a squeeze bottle. Work from the squeegee (ink) side of the screen. Allow to dry fully before printing — use a heat gun on low to speed drying.
Does it reclaim cleanly?
Yes. Murakami 901 removes during standard screen reclaim with your existing emulsion remover. No special chemistry required.
