Description
The purple component for violets, lavenders and plums.
RO Violet is the purple component of the RO mixing system. It gets you to purples, grapes, lavenders and plums in fewer steps than blending magenta and blue, and keeps them cleaner and more saturated along the way.
One of 18 inter-mixable RO colors, cured at 280°F.
What RO Violet does in your ink room
Purples in fewer steps
Mixing purple from magenta and blue works, but a dedicated violet gets you to saturated purples with fewer components — which keeps the color brighter and the formula easier to repeat.
Lavender and lilac tints
RO Violet tinted with white gives clean lavenders and lilacs, which are otherwise easy to push gray or pink.
Cures at 280°F
Low cure across the full ink film — less energy, less scorching and less dye migration on heat-sensitive blanks.
High opacity
Gets to color on press faster — fewer strokes and more flexibility in mesh choice.
Switch your mixing system — not your workflow
Keep your formulas
Matched shade-for-shade to the industry’s most widely used 18-color low-cure system, with the same 18-color structure — so your weight-based formulas carry across.
Keep your settings and screens
Same 280°F cure and 110–305 mesh. Unsure what is on your screens? Use a mesh count determiner.
Lower your ink spend
Every custom color is built from the mixing components — cheaper components make every mixed color cheaper, with no retraining.
Available sizes
Every size is the same finished, press-ready ink. Select your size above.
RO system at a glance
280°F (138°C) across the entire ink film; hold at temperature 5–10 seconds for full stretch and abrasion performance.
220°F (105°C) for 3–5 seconds — just dry to the touch. Many flash units need only 2–3 seconds.
110–305 threads per inch, depending on detail and deposit.
Matte finish with a soft hand; high opacity.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Violet or Flo Purple?
RO Violet is a standard pigment purple for everyday purples and team colors, and it holds up in sunlight. RO Flo Purple is fluorescent — brighter under light, but less lightfast.
Why do my lavenders look gray?
Lavender is a delicate tint and small errors show. Mix it on a scale with fine resolution, and keep black and warm components well away from the formula.
Will RO work with the formulas I already have?
The RO system is matched shade-for-shade to the industry’s most widely used 18-color low-cure mixing system, with the same 18-color structure, so weight-based formulas built on that structure carry across. Mix your most-used formulas first and pull drawdowns alongside your current ink before converting production. We can help — send us your formulas.
What temperature does RO cure at?
280°F across the entire ink film, held at or above temperature for 5–10 seconds. It is a low-cure plastisol, so it can run on the same design as standard 320°F inks — just cure to the higher requirement. Verify cure with a donut probe rather than a surface reading.
Can I print it straight from the can?
Yes. Every RO color is a finished, press-ready ink balanced for viscosity. Print it as-is, or weigh it into a formula with other RO colors.
What mesh counts work best?
110–305 threads per inch, at 25–35 N/cm² tension. Lower counts lay more ink for opacity; higher counts hold detail. Unsure what mesh is on your screens? Use a mesh count determiner.
Can I print it on polyester?
Yes, with care. The system performs best on 100% cotton. On polyester and blends, print over a low-bleed white or bleed blocker to control dye migration, and do not overshoot time at temperature.
What about stretchy fabrics?
For lycra, spandex and performance stretch, add a stretch additive or print over a stretch underbase. See our additives and special effects.
How should I mix colors accurately?
By weight on a scale — zero the container, add each component to its target weight, and mix thoroughly. Weight is far more repeatable than volume. For larger batches, an ink mixer saves time and gives a more consistent blend.
Which size should I buy?
Buy a quart to sample and pull drawdowns, then move to gallons or 5-gallons for production. Switching the whole ink room? The RO mixing system kit gets you all 18 colors at once.
How fast does it ship?
In-stock orders placed by 3:30 PM CT ship the same day, with free shipping over $200 and free in-store pickup at our San Antonio location. See our store policies for details.
