Key Features

Pairs Best With
Apply foil film over wet adhesive then heat press at 300–320°F to bond — peel carrier immediately
Apply flock over wet adhesive; cure in conveyor dryer at 320°F for permanent velvet texture bond

How to Do Foil Transfer & Flock Printing with Printable Adhesive

Metallic Foil Screen Printing
Print Printable Adhesive through your screen. While wet and uncured, lay foil film face-down over the adhesive. Press with a heat press at 300–320°F for 5–10 seconds. Peel foil carrier immediately while warm. The metallic foil bonds precisely to the adhesive in the exact shape of your screen design, creating clean, high-quality metallic effects registered to your artwork.
Flock Printing for Velvet Texture
Print Printable Adhesive through your screen. While wet and tacky, apply flock fibers over the printed area. Cure at 320°F in your conveyor dryer. The adhesive fuses and permanently locks the flock fibers in place. Result: a velvet-textured print in the exact shape of your artwork.
Multi-Layer Specialty Combinations
Print flat color layers first, flash cure, then print Printable Adhesive in registration over selected design elements for foil or flock accents. Allows precise combination of flat screen-printed color with metallic foil or textured flock in a single garment.

How to Wash Test Plastisol Prints

Every time you change your ink formula, mix ratio, dryer settings, or substrate — run a wash test before releasing production. This is the only definitive check for cure integrity and wash durability.

Step 1 — Cure a Test Print
Print and cure a test garment at your production dryer settings. Let cool completely before washing.
Step 2 — Wash Hot
Machine wash on the hottest setting with standard detergent. Hot water is the stress test — if it holds here, it holds everywhere.
Step 3 — Repeat 3–5 Cycles
Run 3–5 full wash-and-dry cycles. Under-cured prints typically fail within the first 3 washes. Properly cured prints show no change.
Step 4 — Inspect
Look for: cracking, peeling, delamination, color fade, or ink loss. A properly cured print shows none of these. Also do a stretch test — pull the print firmly and check for cracking.
If prints fail the wash test: First check dryer temperature with a donut probe or temp tape on the actual garment surface (not air temp). If temp is correct and prints still fail, reduce belt speed slightly to increase dwell time. Retest before running production.
Apply Foil/Flock While Tacky
Foil and flock must be applied while the adhesive is still uncured and tacky. A fully cured adhesive will not bond new material.
Heat Press Required for Foil
Foil transfer requires a heat press for the bonding step — a conveyor dryer alone is not suitable. Direct pressure is required to fully transfer the metallic layer.
Test Foil Compatibility
Test the specific foil product you intend to use with Printable Adhesive before production to confirm bond strength and transfer quality.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply foil over Printable Adhesive?
Print Printable Adhesive through your screen onto the garment. While still wet and uncured (do not flash), lay your foil sheet metallic-side-up, carrier-side-down over the adhesive area. Apply heat press pressure at 300–320°F for 5–10 seconds. Peel the carrier immediately while the garment is still warm — the metallic layer transfers to the adhesive in the exact shape of your screen design. The adhesive is now cured and the foil is permanently bonded.
Can I use any foil with this adhesive?
Most heat transfer foils designed for screen printing will work, but performance varies by foil product. Variables include adhesive sensitivity, temperature range, and carrier peel behavior. Always test a specific foil with Printable Adhesive on the actual garment fabric before running production.
What mesh count should I use?
Use 86–110 mesh to deposit a generous adhesive layer. Printable Adhesive benefits from the heavier deposit that lower mesh provides — unlike standard fine-detail ink printing where high mesh is preferred. A thin adhesive deposit will not provide sufficient bonding surface for full foil transfer.
How do I do flock printing?
Print Printable Adhesive through your screen. While wet and tacky, apply flock fibers over the printed area by hand-dusting, electrostatic application, or sprinkling. Gently pat to press fibers into the adhesive. Remove excess loose flock by shaking. Cure at 320°F in your conveyor dryer. Let cool before handling.
Why does the non-phthalate formula matter?
Major retailers (Walmart, Target, Amazon) have chemical compliance requirements restricting phthalate plasticizers. Children’s apparel is subject to strict phthalate limits under CPSIA. The non-phthalate formula makes Printable Adhesive suitable for compliance-sensitive applications without requiring testing exemptions.
