Description
The Complete Matsui Neo System — All 13 Pigments, Every Base, The Full Pantone Spectrum
13 concentrated pigments. Every Matsui base. Thousands of custom Pantone® formulas — calculated in seconds by free software. The Neo system is how high-volume contract printers and premium brand suppliers build their water-based ink programs. One pigment set covers every substrate: dark cotton with discharge, stretch fabrics with PU stretch base, nylon and polyester with Soft-Tex, and light garments with standard acrylic base. The same pigments work in specialty effect bases for puff, metallic, and dimensional printing. This is not a beginner kit — it is the professional water-based color mixing system that lets you say yes to any job.
Why Screen Printers Choose the Matsui Neo System
The Neo system is not the easiest ink system to learn — it is the most powerful one. Shops that master it don’t switch away.
“The shop that uses Neo is the shop that never says we can’t match that color or we don’t print on that fabric.”
13 pigments + the right bases = the full Pantone spectrum on cotton, poly, stretch, nylon, discharge, standard, and specialty effects.

Available Sizes — Choose What Fits Your Shop
💡 How to pick your size: Not sure where to start? The Sample Kit is the lowest-risk way to evaluate the entire system. Once you know which colors you use most, move to 2 lb containers for your primary colors — that’s how most production shops stock their Neo inventory. Scale up to gallons or dispenser containers as volume justifies.
Compatible Bases — Full Reference Table
The base you choose determines adhesion, hand feel, substrate compatibility, and finish. All Neo pigments are compatible with every Matsui base. Choose by substrate and application:
| Matsui Base | Substrate | Effect / Finish | Key Notes | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 301C Clear Acrylic Base | Cotton, cotton-poly blends | Soft matte finish — semi-transparent on light garments | Most versatile base. Standard starting point for WB printing on light garments. | Spot color on light shirts, standard WB production |
| Brite Discharge Base | 100% cotton with reactive dyes ONLY | Ultra-soft — pigment embeds INTO cotton fiber. Most vivid color on dark cotton. | Add Discharge Activator 3–6%. 12-hr pot life. No blocker needed on dark cotton. | Dark cotton premium soft-hand discharge |
| HM Discharge Base | 100% cotton with reactive dyes ONLY | Discharge hand feel — engineered for high-humidity printing environments | Same chemistry as Brite, built for warm/humid shops. Discharge Activator 3–6%. | Dark cotton in warm/humid climates |
| 301DM Base | Light AND dark cotton with reactive dyes | One base for light and dark — WB on light, discharge capable on dark cotton | Discharge Activator required for dark cotton only. Single-base workflow. | Mixed-run shops printing both light and dark cotton |
| Stretch Clear 301 | Cotton, cotton-poly, stretch fabrics, activewear | Flexible matte finish — does not crack or peel on stretch | Required for garments with 5%+ spandex/elastane. | Athletic wear, yoga, compression, performance tees |
| Soft-Tex Base 350 (PU) | Nylon, polyester, blends | Polyurethane binder — excellent adhesion on synthetics | Required for nylon and aggressive polyester. Fixer WF-N at 5% recommended. | Nylon jackets, polyester athletic, synthetic blends |
| Acrylicon Base | Cotton, poly (dry-clean / non-wash applications) | Specialty solvent-like performance for non-wash fabrics | Different wash fastness profile. For garments that cannot be washed. | Dry-clean only fabrics, costume/theatrical garments |
| Pearl Binder 301 | Cotton, poly blends (light garments) | Pearlescent iridescent sheen — adds shimmer to Neo colors | ⚠️ Maximum 2% pigment load only — much lower than other bases. | Fashion prints, pearlescent specialty, pastel shimmer |
| High-Opacity Rutile Base | Cotton, cotton-poly (light to medium) | Higher opacity than 301C — more saturated ink film | Use when 301C is too transparent for desired color density. | Semi-opaque fashion prints, deeper saturation on lights |
| Special Effects Bases | Cotton, cotton-poly (light garments) | Puff, high-density, shimmer, glitter — dimensional effects | Neo pigments colorize specialty bases. Pigment load varies — test first. | Dimensional, textured, metallic specialty prints |
🟢 Green rows = discharge bases (100% cotton + reactive dyes only). Click any base name to shop that product. Standard pigment load: 10–15% by weight (Pearl Binder: 2% max). Always test wash fastness on your specific substrate before production.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does this kit include a mixing base?
⚠️ NO. This kit contains the 13 Neo Pigment concentrates only. Mixing base is sold separately. You must purchase a Matsui base to make printable ink. See the base chart above to choose the right base for your application.
Which base should I buy first?
For light garments: 301C Clear or EasyPrint Clear. For dark cotton: Brite Discharge Base + Discharge Activator. For both lights and darks with one base: 301DM Base.
What sizes are available?
.25lb sample kit (small test amounts of all 13 pigments), 2lb quart (full quart of each), and 9lb gallon (full gallon of each). Start with the sample kit to test, then move to quart or gallon for production.
How much pigment do I mix into the base?
Standard ratio: 10% pigment to 90% base by weight. Some bases allow up to 15%. Special effects bases have lower maximums — Pearl Binder 301 maxes at 2%, Shimmer bases max at 5%. Use a gram scale and the Matsui CMS for exact formulas.
How do I match a specific Pantone® color?
Use the free Matsui CMS Color Matching Software. Enter any Pantone® code and CMS calculates which of the 13 pigments to use and at what ratios by weight or volume. Use a gram scale for accuracy.
Can I use these pigments with discharge bases?
Yes — Neo Pigments are fully compatible with all Matsui discharge bases including Brite Discharge Base, HM Discharge Base, and 301DM Base. Discharge activator required for dark garment applications. 100% cotton only for discharge mode.
Do I need a blocker on dark garments?
If printing on dark garments with a water-based (non-discharge) base, yes — use Gray Blocker for dark cotton, Black LG Blocker for polyester/blends, or Kombat Blocker for sublimation-printed polyester. If using a discharge base on dark cotton, NO blocker is needed.
Can I use these with Dyestone bases?
⚠️ No. Dyestone bases require Dyestone X pigments only. Neo Pigments are compatible with all other Matsui bases.
Are these safe for children’s garments?
Yes. OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, CPSIA and HR4040 compliant. Meets all RSLs for major brands.
What additives should I use?
Use Retarder MG (1-5%) for screen open time, Fixer WF-N (1-5%) for wash fastness, Softener MG (1-4%) for fabric penetration, or Quick Additive (6-9%) for all three in one. Additive recommendations vary by base — see individual base product pages for specifics.
