Description

Neo Red MFB — One Pigment, Every Base, Thousands of Colors

Neo Red MFB is not an ink. It is the raw color.

The ink is what happens when you combine this pigment concentrate with a Matsui base. The base provides adhesion, hand feel, finish, and performance. The pigment provides color. Different base = different result.

Mix Neo Red MFB into a discharge base for cool, crimson reds on dark cotton. Mix it into an acrylic clear base for vivid cherry and crimson prints on light garments. Mix it into Silver Shimmer 620 for a metallic crimson, or into crack base for a distressed vintage red texture.

One pigment. Dozens of bases. Thousands of cool blue-leaning red shades when blended with the other 12 Neo Pigments using the Matsui CMS software.

⚠️ Pigment Only — Must Be Mixed with a Base

Neo Red MFB will NOT adhere to fabric by itself. It must be mixed into a Matsui base before printing. The base acts as the binder that carries the pigment to the fabric surface and locks it in during curing. Without a base, the pigment will wash off.

Standard mixing ratio: Up to 10–15% pigment by weight into the base. Start at 10%. Some applications allow up to 15% — check the specific base for its maximum pigment load. Higher pigment loads create stronger color but may affect hand feel.

Pantone® color matching: Use the free Matsui CMS Color Matching Software to calculate exact formulas. Enter a Pantone® code and the CMS will calculate which Neo Pigments to use and the correct ratios by weight or volume.

Blocker Escalation — Which Blocker, When?

The blocker prints FIRST, directly on the garment, UNDER the white underbase. It prevents garment dye from migrating up through the white and into your color layer during curing. Three levels of blocking strength:

Level 1 — Under Base Blocker Gray: Standard dye migration on dark cotton garments. The default starting point.

Level 2 — Under Base Blocker Black LG: Stronger blocking for polyester, poly-blends, and garments with aggressive dye migration that Gray cannot contain.

Level 3 — Kombat Blocker: Most aggressive. Specifically for sublimation-printed polyester where sublimation dyes re-activate at cure temperatures. Used exclusively with the Kombat system.

No blocker needed: Light garments (no dark dye to migrate) and discharge printing (discharge chemistry removes the garment dye instead of blocking it).

Always test — 48-hour rule: Print a test garment, cure it fully, then let it sit for 48 hours at room temperature. If garment dye bleeds through the white underbase after 48 hours, escalate to the next blocker level.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I print Neo Red MFB by itself?

⚠️ NO. Neo Red MFB is a pigment concentrate only. It must be mixed with a Matsui base before printing. Without a base, the pigment will not adhere to fabric.

Which base should I use?

That depends on your application. For light garments: 301C Clear or EasyPrint Clear. For dark cotton: Brite Discharge Base + activator. For stretch: Stretch Clear. For nylon/polyester: Soft-Tex Base 350. See the full compatibility chart in the product description.

How much pigment do I add?

Up to 10–15% by weight, depending on the base. Most applications use 10%. Special effects bases like Pearl Binder 301 have lower maximums (2%). Use Matsui CMS for exact formulas.

Can I use it with discharge bases?

Yes — Neo Pigments are fully compatible with all Matsui discharge bases including Brite Discharge Base, HM Discharge Base, and 301DM Base. Discharge activator required for dark garment applications.

Can I mix Neo Red MFB with other Neo Pigments?

Yes — that is how you create custom colors. The Matsui CMS Color Matching Software calculates exact blend ratios for Pantone® colors. For example, mixing Neo Red MFB with Neo Blue MB creates deep burgundy and wine tones. Mixing with Neo Rose MB creates vivid fuchsia and magenta shades. Neo Red MFB is the cooler, blue-leaning red — Neo Red MGD is the warmer, orange-leaning red.

Do I need a blocker on dark garments?

If printing on dark garments with a water-based (non-discharge) base, yes — you need a blocker under your white underbase to prevent garment dye migration. Use Gray Blocker for dark cotton, Black LG Blocker for polyester/blends, or Kombat Blocker for sublimation-printed polyester. If using a discharge base on dark cotton, NO blocker is needed — discharge removes the garment dye.

Is it safe for children’s garments?

Yes. OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, CPSIA and HR4040 compliant. Meets all RSLs for major brands.

Can I use it with Dyestone bases?

⚠️ No. Dyestone bases require Dyestone X pigments only. Neo Pigments are compatible with all other Matsui bases.

Where do I find Pantone® color formulas?

Download the free Matsui CMS Color Matching Software. Enter any Pantone® code and CMS calculates the exact Neo Pigment ratios by weight or volume.
