Description
Custom Pantone Matsui Ink, Mixed In-House and Ready to Print
Choose the Matsui base that fits your garment, search your Pantone, and we mix it on our Matsui Dispenser System using genuine Neo pigments and CMS formulas. No scales, no pigment kit, no guessing. Just soft-hand water-based or discharge ink that matches, every time you reorder.
Dispenser-accurate color
The Matsui Dispenser measures every pigment automatically to the CMS formula, so your color is right the first time without the human error of hand mixing.
Repeatable reorders
Your color is saved to your order. Reorder anytime and get the same Pantone in the same base, batch after batch.
Matched to the dried print
Pantone matches are made to printed and dried ink, not wet ink in the bucket. What you approve is what you print.
The softest hand
Water-based ink soaks into the fabric instead of sitting on top, and discharge ink replaces the garment dye for prints you can barely feel.

How to choose your base in 10 seconds
Light cotton tees
Choose 301C Clear for the softest hand and brightest true-to-Pantone color on white and light 100% cotton.
Athletic and stretch
Choose Stretch Clear for everyday activewear, or EasyPrint Clear when you need finer detail on performance fabric.
Dark 100% cotton
Choose Brite Discharge for bold, bright spot colors, or HM Discharge for halftones and fine detail. Or choose Alpha to print water-based on lights and discharge on darks.
The six Matsui bases, explained
Water-based · Cotton
301C Clear
The original Matsui mixing base and the standard for light 100% cotton. Clear, so Pantone colors print vivid and true. Prints through mesh up to 305 for the thinnest deposit and softest hand in the Matsui system. No stretch, so it’s not for athletic wear. Not for dark garments on its own.
Water-based · Performance
EasyPrint Clear
A clear performance base with excellent elasticity for Dri-Fit and activewear. Prints smoothly with no viscosity adjustments and holds finer detail than Stretch Clear, up to 225 mesh. Choose it for halftones and detailed art on athletic garments.
Water-based · Stretch
Stretch Clear
The everyday stretch base for Dri-Fit, Lycra and high-stretch fabrics. Clear, silicone-like finish that stretches and recovers with the garment instead of cracking. Prints through 150 to 180 mesh. Most performance jobs start here.
Hybrid · Lights or darks
Alpha Series
A ready-for-use hybrid ink that works two ways. Print it as water-based on light and medium garments, or add Discharge Activator and print it as a discharge ink on dark 100% cotton. Prints through mesh up to 230 and runs wet-on-wet.
Discharge · Dark cotton
Brite Discharge Base
Removes the garment dye and replaces it with your color for the brightest discharge colors in the Matsui system. Best for bold designs, large fills and spot colors on dark 100% cotton. Requires Discharge Activator.
Discharge · Fine detail
HM Discharge Base
The high-mesh discharge base. It flows through finer mesh for halftones, simulated process and small text on dark 100% cotton, with an exceptionally soft hand. Slightly less bright than Brite. Requires Discharge Activator.

Discharge needs activator. Brite and HM Discharge ship without activator. Add Discharge Activator at 3–8% before printing. It has a 12-hour pot life once mixed, and works on 100% cotton with reactive dyes only.
Test before you print. The ink in the container looks darker than the dried print. Print, cure and let it dry before comparing to your Pantone Formula Guide.
Printing on polyester? Clear bases don’t block dye migration. Print Under Base Blocker 301 Gray first on poly and high-poly blends.
Made to order. Custom colors are non-refundable, and the color and base can’t be changed once your order is placed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Custom Pantone Matsui ink FAQ
Which Matsui base should I choose?
Light 100% cotton: 301C Clear. Everyday athletic and stretch wear: Stretch Clear. Fine detail on performance fabric: EasyPrint Clear. Bold color on dark 100% cotton: Brite Discharge. Halftones and fine detail on dark cotton: HM Discharge. One ink for both lights and darks: Alpha Series.
What’s the difference between Brite and HM Discharge?
Both remove the garment dye and replace it with your color on dark 100% cotton. Brite gives the brightest colors and is best for bold designs and large fills. HM flows through higher mesh for halftones, simulated process and small text, with slightly less brightness.
What’s the difference between Stretch Clear and EasyPrint Clear?
Both are clear performance bases with excellent elasticity. Stretch Clear is the everyday choice, printing through 150–180 mesh with a silicone-like finish. EasyPrint Clear holds finer detail through mesh up to 225 and prints smoothly with no adjustments.
What makes Alpha different?
Alpha is a ready-for-use hybrid. Print it as water-based ink on light garments, or add Discharge Activator to print it as discharge on dark 100% cotton. It’s the only option here that does both.
Do discharge colors come with activator?
No. Brite and HM Discharge ship without activator. Add Discharge Activator at 3–8% right before printing. Once mixed it has a 12-hour pot life. Discharge only works on 100% cotton dyed with reactive dyes.
What’s the minimum order?
One gallon per custom color. Need a larger batch? Message us on Tidio or call (512) 454-0505.
Does the price change with the color?
No. Price is set by the base and size you choose. Every Pantone costs the same.
How long does it take?
We mix every custom color in-house. Custom mixing adds about one business day before your order ships.
Why does the ink look darker in the bucket?
Water-based ink dries lighter than it looks wet. Colors are matched to the printed and dried ink, so print, cure and let it dry before comparing to your Pantone book.
What temperature does it cure at?
320°F (160°C). Make sure the ink film reaches full temperature, then do a wash test on any new garment.
Can I print it on polyester?
Performance bases are made for athletic fabrics, but polyester dyes can still migrate into the ink. Print Under Base Blocker 301 Gray first on polyester and high-poly blends.
Can I return or change a custom color?
No. Each color is mixed for your order, so it’s non-refundable, and the color and base can’t be changed once the order is placed.
How do I reorder the same color?
Use Order Again in your account and your Pantone and base carry over.
