Why Hi-Tex Is the Right Choice for Manual Press Plastisol Shops
💪 Handles Manual Press Squeegee Pressure
Manual press printing means variable squeegee pressure — sometimes harder than intended, especially on long runs as fatigue sets in. Hi-Tex’s thicker thread diameter tolerates the occasional hard stroke without risk of tearing. For plastisol shops printing long runs by hand, that durability margin matters every production day.
🎯 Optimized for High-Opacity Plastisol
The thicker thread and narrower mesh opening of Hi-Tex delivers more controlled, heavier plastisol ink deposits — exactly what you need for solid opaque spot colors on dark garments and white underbases that actually cover. Hi-Tex has been the standard for this type of work for decades for good reason.
🔄 ECO Frame Flexibility at the Press
Pre-woven into the same locking strip as all ECO panels — snaps directly into the ECO Frame 20×24. Stock Hi-Tex in your production counts next to the press alongside Hi-Dro panels for water-based work. Swap in under 2 minutes — no adhesive, no vendor, no wait.
Hi-Tex vs. Hi-Dro — Which 20×24 ECO Panel Is Right for Your Job?
Both Hi-Tex and Hi-Dro ECO panels fit the ECO Frame 20×24. Most well-stocked manual press shops keep both on hand. Here’s how to decide:
| Feature / Factor | 🔴 Hi-Tex (This Product) | 💧 Hi-Dro |
|---|---|---|
| Thread Diameter (158/157 count) | 64 µm — Thicker | 48 µm — Thinner |
| Tear Resistance | Excellent — handles variable manual pressure | Good — handle with care |
| Squeegee Pressure Required | Higher — needs force to clear ink | Lower — reduces arm fatigue on manual press |
| Plastisol Performance | Excellent — decades-proven workhorse | Good — softer hand result |
| Water-Based Performance | Good — requires degreasing first | Excellent — purpose-built |
| Halftone Performance | Good — thicker threads can clip fine dots | Excellent — less dot clipping |
| Surface Treatment | None — must degrease before every use | Plasma treated — coat immediately |
| Print Hand Feel on Garment | Standard — heavier ink deposit | Softer hand — less ink driven in |
| Best For | High-opacity plastisol, underbases, solid spot colors, durable production mesh | Water-based, discharge, halftones, soft-hand plastisol, detail work |
Pro tip for manual press shops: Stock Hi-Tex for your plastisol underbase and solid color work. Stock Hi-Dro 20×24 panels for water-based, discharge, and halftone jobs. The ECO Frame’s 2-minute panel swap makes it practical to run both from the same frames throughout the day.
Hi-Tex ECO Panel 20″×24″ — Full Mesh Count Guide
All Hi-Tex mesh counts below are available as 20×24 ECO Frame panels. Each snaps into your ECO Frame 20×24 using the locking strip system.
| Mesh Count | Color | Thread Dia. | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| 110 Hi-Tex | ⬜ White | 80 µm | High-opacity white underbases, thick specialty inks, metallic and shimmer inks |
| 110 Hi-Tex | 🟨 Yellow | 80 µm | Heavy underbases where reduced UV scatter is preferred, metallic inks |
| 158 Hi-Tex | ⬜ White | 64 µm | Most popular Hi-Tex count. Standard plastisol spot colors, all-around production printing |
| 158 Hi-Tex | 🟨 Yellow | 64 µm | Halftone-sensitive plastisol work where sharper stencil edges are needed |
| 180 Hi-Tex | ⬜ White | 55 µm | Finer plastisol spot colors, tighter designs, lighter ink deposits |
| 196 Hi-Tex | 🟨 Yellow | 55 µm | Fine detail plastisol, halftones, tighter artwork at standard thread durability |
| 230 Hi-Tex | 🟨 Yellow | 48 µm | High-detail color work, simulated process, fine halftone plastisol |
| 305 Hi-Tex | 🟨 Yellow | 34 µm | Ultra-fine detail, 4-color process — handle with care at this count |
⚠️ Important: Hi-Tex Must Be Degreased Before Every Use
Saati Hi-Tex has no plasma surface treatment. Before coating with emulsion, every Hi-Tex panel must be properly abraded and degreased using a quality screen degreaser. This applies before the first use and before every subsequent reuse after reclaiming. Skipping this step causes poor emulsion adhesion and stencil breakdown on press. This is not required for Hi-Dro panels, which can be coated immediately.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Saati Hi-Tex mesh and what makes it different from Hi-Dro?
Saatilene Hi-Tex uses a thicker thread diameter than Hi-Dro at the same mesh count — delivering superior tear resistance, high tension tolerance, and proven plastisol production performance. It has no surface treatment and must be degreased before every use. Hi-Dro is thinner-thread, plasma-treated for water-based and halftone work. Most shops stock both.
Do I need to degrease Hi-Tex panels before coating?
Yes — always, before every use. Hi-Tex has no surface treatment. Use a quality screen degreaser and abrade before coating with emulsion. Skipping this causes poor stencil adhesion and breakdown on press.
What frame do these panels fit?
These panels fit the Nortech ECO Frame 20″×24″. You need the Nortech ECO Stretching Tool for installation — it is required and sold separately.
Which Hi-Tex mesh count should I use for my manual press?
158 White is the most popular all-around plastisol count. 110 White for heavy underbases. 158 Yellow for halftone-sensitive plastisol. 196 Yellow for fine detail plastisol. 230 Yellow for high-detail and simulated process. Not sure? Call us at (512) 454-0505.
Can Hi-Tex ECO Panels be used for water-based inks?
Yes, but Hi-Dro 20×24 is the far better choice for water-based inks. Hi-Dro’s wider mesh openings, plasma treatment, and thinner thread profile are purpose-built for water-based and discharge printing — Hi-Tex works but won’t match Hi-Dro’s flow or ink release for that ink type.
Is the stretching tool included?
No — the Nortech ECO Stretching Tool is sold separately. It is required for installation. If you’re new to the ECO Frame system, consider the ECO Frame Starter Kit 20×24 which includes the tool.
Where do these panels ship from?
Drop ship — ships directly from Nortech Graphics in Arkansas. Shipping times vary. Contact us at [email protected] or (512) 454-0505.
