The TW 11000 Series is versatile and suitable for various substrates, including:
- Treated Polyethylene
- Treated Polypropylene
- Coated Wood
- Coated Metal
- Nylon Fabric
The TW 11000 Ink Series is a flexible, one-component, no-gloss, chemical-resistant solvent-based ink system that adheres to a wide variety of substrates. It’s suitable for printing on various materials, including nylon jackets, flags, Tyvek®, plastic sheeting, leather, wood, metals, and treated polyethylene and polypropylene plastic containers.
- Screen Mesh: Recommended mesh range from 110 to 305 (43 to 120 cm) monofilament polyester.
- Stencils: Use solvent-proof or water-soluble emulsion stencils only, along with a water-soluble blockout.
- Squeegee Type: Utilize a sharp 65 to 75 single durometer blade for optimal results.
- Ink Additives and Thinning: The ink is supplied press-ready for most applications and printing equipment. However, you can use TW-1073 Thinner or 11017 thinner for viscosity adjustments or to improve ink flow by up to 5-10% by weight. Add TW-1091 for fine detail printing or high-temperature conditions by a similar percentage. It’s important not to over-reduce, as it may affect drying speed and adhesion. You can also use TW-2919 Adhesion Promoter / Catalyst to improve chemical resistance and adhesion.
- Ink Yield and Coverage: Depending on various factors, including fabric selection, squeegee hardness, substrate absorption, and press mechanics, colors should achieve a yield of 1,400 to 2,000 square feet per gallon (33 to 47 square meters per liter).
- Drying Parameters: The 11000 Series air dries in 10 to 20 minutes at room temperature, but you can force dry it in seconds at 90° to 150°F (32° to 66°C). Ensure that the temperature is not excessive to prevent material blocking after printing.
- Adhesion Testing: Test substrates for adhesion before production. The 11000 Series is specifically formulated to adhere to most polyethylene and polypropylene substrates with surface tension levels of 38 dyne/cm or higher.
- Color Availability: The 11000 Ink Series offers a range of single pigment mixing colors, standard colors, and the Advanced Color Gamut™ four-color process inks.
- Ink Wash Up: Use press wash and degradents specifically developed for solvent-based inks for wash-up and reclamation.
- Storage: Store at room temperature below 100°F (38°C) and avoid exposure to open flames and excessive heat.
- Packaging: Available in quarts, gallons, and five-gallon pails.
- Safety and Handling: Always refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet before use.
- Estimated Durability and Light-Fastness: While outdoor durability may vary, accelerated weathering tests indicate that the 11000 Series Ink Line offers exterior life of up to two years on most substrates. However, Reflex and Ultra Blue have an exterior life of up to one year. Please note that real-world results may vary based on production conditions and end-product use.
