Description

Chroma/Strip Plus iSC — 35:1 Emulsion Remover Concentrate with Surfactant + Degreaser

Stencil removers don’t have to come pre-diluted. Chromaline’s Chroma/Strip Plus iSC is a heavily concentrated formula — 1 part product to 35 parts water — that ships compact and mixes on demand. Less plastic, less freight weight, less shelf space, and a built-in surfactant that helps the working solution penetrate the emulsion faster than basic strippers. The 1.30-gallon jug makes 46.8 gallons of ready-to-use solution.

Works on direct photoemulsions, capillary films, and direct/indirect stencils. Part of the Chromaline iSC Integrated Screen Chemistry system. One critical rule: never let it dry on the screen — apply, scrub both sides, rinse immediately with high-pressure water.

35:1 Dilution Ratio

By volume, dilute 1 part Chroma/Strip Plus iSC in 35 parts water. A 1.30-gallon jug makes 46.8 gallons of working stripper — roughly the equivalent of buying nine 5-gallon pails of pre-mixed RTU emulsion remover, with a fraction of the freight cost and plastic waste.

Built-In Surfactant

The surfactant package lowers surface tension so the working solution wets out across the mesh and penetrates deeper into the emulsion layer. Faster wet-out means faster chemical attack on the stencil — particularly noticeable on thicker coatings and high-tension mesh.

Stencil Remover PLUS Degreaser

Unlike a standard stripper, Chroma/Strip Plus iSC includes a degreaser component. The reformulated iSC version pulls double duty during reclaim — softening the emulsion while cleaning the mesh — which can reduce a separate degreasing pass for some shops.

All Stencil Systems

Softens and dissolves direct photoemulsions (photopolymer and diazo), capillary films, and direct/indirect stencil systems. One concentrate covers every major stencil type used in professional screen printing.

Less Plastic, Less Freight

Buying concentrate means you’re not paying to ship water across the country. Smaller bottles, less plastic waste, lower freight cost, and significantly more shelf efficiency in the screen room.

Part of the iSC System

Formulated for compatibility with Chromaline’s full Integrated Screen Chemistry line — press wash, screen wash, emulsion remover, and degreaser are all designed to work together for predictable reclaim results.

What’s In the Bottle

1
Oxidizing emulsion remover base. The active chemistry that attacks and softens hardened photoemulsion, capillary film, and direct/indirect stencils.
2
Surfactant package. Lowers surface tension so the working solution penetrates deep into the emulsion layer instead of beading on the surface.
3
Degreaser component. The iSC reformulation added a degreaser to the concentrate — the same surfactant action that aids penetration also helps clean grease and contaminants from the mesh.
4
35:1 dilution capacity. 5 oz → 1.4 gallons RTU. 1 quart → 9 gallons RTU. 1.30 gallon → 46.8 gallons RTU. The most water-efficient size in the Chromaline reclaim line.

4 Steps to a Clean Screen with Chromaline’s iSC System

Chromaline’s official iSC walkthrough — the 4-step clean-screen process with the full Integrated Screen Chemistry line.

Why Concentrate Is the Smarter Buy

Less Water Shipped
A 1.30-gallon jug becomes 46.8 gallons of working solution — you’re not paying freight on 45+ gallons of water.
Less Plastic Waste
One concentrate jug replaces multiple large RTU containers — significantly reduces packaging the shop has to recycle or dispose of.
Lower Per-Gallon Cost
Concentrate is almost always the lowest cost-per-RTU-gallon way to buy emulsion remover. The 1.30-gal jug is the best value tier.
Shelf-Space Efficient
One concentrate jug takes up the space of a single bottle but yields the equivalent of several pails of RTU stripper.

How the Surfactant + Oxidizer Combo Works

Surface tension & emulsion penetration

Hardened photoemulsion is hydrophobic — water-based strippers without surfactants tend to bead up rather than wet out across the surface. The Chroma/Strip Plus iSC surfactant lowers surface tension, so the working solution forms a continuous film and penetrates into the stencil layer rather than sitting on top.

Oxidizer chemistry on hardened polymers

Cured emulsion is a crosslinked polymer. Oxidizers chemically attack the polymer bonds — softening the stencil so it lifts off the mesh under high-pressure water. The surfactant gets the oxidizer to the polymer faster; the oxidizer does the actual chemical work.

Why drying on the screen is so bad

If the working solution dries before rinse, the partially-broken-down emulsion locks back onto the mesh in a state that’s much harder to remove than the original cured stencil. This is the #1 reclaim mistake — apply, scrub, rinse in one continuous workflow.

⚠️ Mix Fresh, Use Fresh
Mix only what you’ll use in a working session. Diluted working solution loses efficacy over time — keep the concentrate sealed and mix as needed.
⚠️ Soft Polyester Brush Only
Apply with a soft polyester scrub brush — never hard bristles or abrasive pads, which can damage the mesh and shed particles into the screen.
❄️ Freeze Warning
Concentrate can freeze in transit below 32°F. Order with caution in winter — we ship from San Antonio, TX, so southern routes are typically lower risk.
⚠️ Auto-Reclaim? Use Auto Strip iSC
High-volume automatic reclaim systems should use Chromaline’s Auto Strip iSC (200:1) to avoid foaming. Chroma/Strip Plus iSC is best for manual spray and brush application.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the dilution ratio for Chroma/Strip Plus iSC?

By volume, dilute 1 part Chroma/Strip Plus iSC concentrate to 35 parts water. A 1.30-gallon jug makes 46.8 gallons of ready-to-use working solution. A 1-quart bottle makes 9 gallons. A 5 oz bottle makes 1.4 gallons.

What’s the difference between Chroma/Strip iSC and Chroma/Strip Plus iSC?

Chroma/Strip iSC is ready-to-use — no mixing. Chroma/Strip Plus iSC is a 35:1 concentrate with built-in surfactant and degreaser, so you mix on demand. Choose Plus if you want lower cost per RTU gallon, less plastic to dispose of, and lower freight cost. Choose the RTU version if you don’t want to mix at all.

Does it work on all stencil types?

Yes. Chroma/Strip Plus iSC softens and dissolves direct photoemulsions (both photopolymer and diazo), capillary films, and direct/indirect stencil systems. One concentrate covers every major stencil type used in professional screen printing.

Why does it say not to let it dry on the screen?

If the working solution dries on the screen before rinsing, the partially-broken-down emulsion bonds back to the mesh in a state that’s much harder to remove than the original cured stencil. This is the most common reclaim mistake. Always work the screen in one continuous sequence: apply → scrub both sides → rinse with high-pressure water — without pausing. Process one screen at a time if your setup requires it.

What does the surfactant actually do?

Hardened photoemulsion is hydrophobic — basic water-based strippers tend to bead up on it rather than wet out across the surface. The surfactant in Chroma/Strip Plus iSC lowers the working solution’s surface tension, so it forms a continuous film and penetrates deeper into the stencil layer. Translation: the oxidizer reaches the polymer faster and works more efficiently.

Can I still skip the degreasing step since it has a built-in degreaser?

The degreaser component improves reclaim quality, but for best results before recoating with emulsion we still recommend a dedicated degreasing pass with Chroma-Wet iSC or another degreaser. Degreasing is cheap insurance for clean emulsion adhesion on the next coat.

Can I use it in an automatic reclaim system?

No — Chroma/Strip Plus iSC is formulated for manual spray and brush application. For automatic reclaim systems, use Chromaline Auto Strip iSC, which is a 200:1 concentrate engineered to avoid the foaming issues that come with using a surfactant-rich stripper in automated equipment.

What brush should I use?

Use a soft polyester scrub brush. Do not use hard bristles or scrub pads — hard bristles can damage the mesh, and scrub pads tend to shed small particles that get trapped in the screen and cause coating issues later. Mark a dedicated brush for stencil remover so it doesn’t cross-contaminate other reclaim steps.

Does the concentrate freeze?

Yes — Chroma/Strip Plus iSC is a water-based concentrate and can freeze below 32°F. Order with caution if transit temperatures will drop below freezing. Shipping from San Antonio, TX puts orders on southern routes and reduces freeze risk for most destinations year-round.

Should I buy the concentrate or the ready-to-use?

Concentrate is almost always the better value if you don’t mind mixing. The 1.30-gallon Plus iSC jug makes 46.8 gallons of working solution — equivalent to roughly nine 5-gallon pails of pre-mixed stripper — at a fraction of the freight cost and far less plastic waste. The RTU version is right for shops with low volume or operators who simply don’t want to handle dilution.

What sizes does River City Supply stock?

We stock Chroma/Strip Plus iSC in 5 oz, 1 quart, and 1.30 gallon sizes. Drum quantities are available on request — drum purchases qualify for Chromaline’s DDU program (free wall-mounted pump dispensing unit). In-stock orders before 3:30 PM CT ship same-day from San Antonio, TX.
