FDC 4200 Crystal White Sign Vinyl 24″ — Lumina® 4200-102
FDC Films
FDC Lumina® 4200 Crystal White (Color #102) is a premium 24″ intermediate-grade ultra-high gloss calendered PVC sign vinyl in a pure, brilliant bright white with one significant distinction that separates it from every other color in the line: a blue silicone-coated backing sheet instead of the standard white kraft liner. That blue liner provides exceptional contrast for weeding visibility on a white film — making Crystal White the production-friendly gloss white choice for high-volume sign shops and print-on-demand operations. At 2.8 mil with a permanent acrylic adhesive, it cuts cleanly, bonds firmly, and delivers the brilliant white that lettering, vehicle graphics, and storefront signage depend on. Rated up to 5 years outdoors.

Description
Brilliant Gloss White with the Blue Liner That Changes Everything
Crystal White #102 is the production sign shop’s gloss white. The ultra-high gloss brilliant white that makes vehicle lettering pop, storefront identification read clearly, and color-fill areas sing — backed by a blue silicone liner that provides the cut-line contrast that standard white-on-white liner configurations deny.
Ultra-High Gloss Brilliant White
Color #102 is a pure, bright white with a high-gloss topcoat that maximizes the reflective quality of white surfaces — making vehicle lettering shine against dark vehicle finishes and storefront graphics read clearly at distance.
Blue Liner for Superior Weeding Visibility
Crystal White’s defining feature: a blue silicone-coated backing sheet instead of standard white kraft. The blue liner creates contrast behind the white vinyl that standard white liners cannot — making cut lines clearly visible and reducing missed cuts on detailed white lettering.
Production-Friendly High-Tack Adhesive
The clear permanent acrylic adhesive cures to 2.5 lbs/in after 24 hours — holding vehicle lettering through years of weather cycles and storefront graphics through seasons of UV and temperature change.
5-Year Outdoor Dependability
Rated up to 5 years outdoors — the production sign shop standard for vehicle lettering, real estate and contractor fleet graphics, outdoor storefront signage, and everyday commercial sign work.

How to Apply — Step by Step
Set cutter force to 40–60g and run a test cut before production. Use a fresh blade for cleanest results.
Weed excess vinyl with a weeding hook. FDC 4200’s cast-like flexibility handles fine detail without tearing neighboring cuts.
Apply your 24″ application tape over the weeded design. Squeegee firmly from center out to bond tape to the vinyl face.
Clean with 70% isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Allow to dry completely. Surface must be at or above 40°F.
Position the design, squeegee from center outward to eliminate air pockets, then peel transfer tape at a low angle. Allow 24 hours to cure.
You’ll Also Need: Application Tape
A quality 24″ application tape ensures your Crystal White graphics transfer cleanly and position precisely every time.
Where Crystal White Sign Vinyl Works Best
Compatible Surfaces & Best Pairings
Crystal White achieves maximum contrast on dark vehicle colors, dark-painted walls, glass, aluminum composite, and tinted window films. Reads professionally on virtually any substrate. Works on all standard sign vinyl surfaces.
Pro Application Tips
- Blue liner makes weeding much easier than standard white vinyl — embrace this advantage for high-volume production
- Be careful with very small detail pieces — blue liner is slicker and small cuts may dislodge unexpectedly
- Standard firm squeegee works fine — no felt-edge caution needed for high-gloss white
- IPA prep is especially critical on dark vehicles where white lifting is immediately visible
- Allow 24-hr cure before vehicle washing on commercial fleet graphics

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions — FDC 4200 Crystal White Sign Vinyl
Why does Crystal White #102 have a blue backing sheet instead of white?
The blue silicone liner provides contrast against the white vinyl that a white-on-white liner configuration cannot offer. Cut lines are dramatically more visible against a blue liner than against a white one — reducing missed cuts and speeding weeding time on detailed white lettering work.
Is the blue liner a sign of a defect or wrong product?
No — the blue liner is an intentional feature of Crystal White #102. It is the correct product. The blue silicone backing is specifically chosen for its weeding-visibility advantage on white vinyl.
Does the slicker blue liner affect weeding?
The blue liner is slightly more slick than standard white kraft. For most sign work this is a non-issue — the weeding visibility advantage far outweighs the slightly increased slipperiness. For very fine detail work, use controlled, deliberate weeding movements.
How does Crystal White compare to Restful White #202?
Crystal White #102 is a pure, bright brilliant white — the whitest, most neutral, highest-contrast white in the lineup. Restful White #202 is a warm, creamy off-white. For vehicle lettering and commercial sign work, Crystal White is correct. For premium interior and hospitality applications where warmth is part of the brand identity, Restful White is the better choice.
What is Crystal White best used for?
Crystal White is the production sign shop workhorse white — commercial vehicle lettering, contractor fleet graphics, storefront identification, and real estate signage. The blue liner weeding advantage makes it especially efficient for high-volume shops cutting multiple vehicle jobs per day.
Does Crystal White hold up on commercial vehicles in all weather?
FDC 4200 is rated up to 5 years outdoors and holds well on commercial vehicle applications. Apply above 40°F on thoroughly IPA-cleaned surfaces and allow 24 hours cure before vehicle washing.
Can Crystal White be used on tinted windows?
Yes — Crystal White adheres to automotive tint film when clean and above 40°F. Always test on a sample of the specific tint film before committing to production application, as adhesion depends on the film’s coating and condition.
