Price range: $6.00 through $221.23
Description
Deep, Sophisticated Plum — Purple With the Volume Turned Down
Plum #168 is where purple meets quiet luxury. A dark, wine-shifted purple-magenta that communicates sophistication, theatricality, and earned elegance rather than the vivid energy of Violet or the delicate softness of Lavender. Fine dining entrance graphics, performing arts venue identification, and luxury event brand displays — this is the purple that commands without shouting.
Deep Wine-Purple Sophistication
Color #168 is a dark, rich purple with red-wine undertones — sitting between deep maroon and saturated violet in a distinctive space that reads as theatrical, sophisticated, and premium.
Refined Ultra-High Gloss Depth
The 4200 Series topcoat amplifies Plum’s natural depth with a polished, jewel-like finish that elevates performing arts venue signage, luxury event brand displays, and fine dining identity with the same premium quality the context demands.
Premium Bond for Upscale Environments
The clear permanent acrylic adhesive cures to 2.5 lbs/in after 24 hours — holding performing arts venue identification through decades of institutional use and fine dining interior graphics through years of commercial kitchen environments.
5-Year Outdoor Durability
Rated up to 5 years outdoors under vertical exposure — the longevity that permanent performing arts center identification, outdoor theater signage, and luxury hospitality venue exterior graphics require.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions — FDC 4200 Plum Sign Vinyl
How does Plum #168 differ from Violet #063 and Lavender #075?
Plum #168 is the darkest and most sophisticated purple in the FDC 4200 line — a deep, dark wine-purple with red undertones that reads as theatrical and luxurious. Violet #063 is fully saturated and vivid — the sports team and entertainment purple. Lavender #075 is soft and light — the wellness and baby purple.
Is Plum good for performing arts venue and theater signage?
Plum is one of the most contextually authentic colors for performing arts applications. Its deep wine-purple connects visually with the theatrical curtain, velvet seat, and jewel-tone aesthetic of concert halls and opera houses.
What colors pair with Plum for fine dining and luxury event graphics?
Plum pairs classically with gold and champagne for a luxury fine dining and gala event palette. Cream and antique white create a more restrained luxury pairing. Black adds drama for evening event graphics.
What makes Plum different from Burgundy #012?
Burgundy #012 is a dark red-maroon associated with wineries, fine dining, and universities. Plum #168 is a dark purple-magenta associated with performing arts, luxury events, and theatrical environments. The distinction matters significantly for brand color accuracy.
Does Plum hold up on outdoor performing arts center signage?
FDC 4200 is rated up to 5 years outdoors. A UV-protective overlaminate is strongly recommended for permanent outdoor performing arts signage where maintaining the deep rich character through the full graphic life is a priority.
Can Plum be used for LGBTQ+ organization brand identity?
Yes — Plum’s position in the purple spectrum makes it a sophisticated choice for LGBTQ+ community organizations and queer arts venues that prefer depth and sophistication over the vivid energy of brighter pride palette colors.
What application tape works best with Plum?
Clear 24″ film tape is preferred for performing arts installations where gold or cream overlay elements must register precisely against a plum base panel. PC-24 paper tape handles all standard Plum applications reliably.
