Printing Directions for Four-Color Process Plastisol Inks with 305 Mesh Screens

Step 1: Artwork Preparation

Ensure your artwork is properly separated into the four primary colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (CMYK). These layers will be printed sequentially to create a full-color image.

Step 2: Screen Preparation

Use four screens with a 305 mesh count, which is ideal for fine detail and smooth halftone printing. Coat the screens with a high-quality, water-resistant emulsion to maintain image clarity.

Step 3: Ink Mixing

Prepare and mix CMYK inks according to the artwork specifications. Proper color balance and ink viscosity are key to achieving accurate color reproduction.

Step 4: Screen Printing Sequence

  1. Begin with Yellow as the first color.
  2. Position the garment or substrate accurately on the printing press.
  3. Apply the Yellow ink evenly with a medium squeegee pressure.

Step 5: Printing

  1. Lower the screen onto the substrate and apply even, light pressure to transfer the ink.
  2. Lift the screen and either air dry the ink or use a flash cure unit to partially cure it. The ink should be dry to the touch before proceeding.

Step 6: Repeat for the Remaining Colors

  1. Print Cyan, followed by Magenta, and finally Black, repeating the same process for each layer.
  2. Flash cure between each color application to prevent smudging and ensure proper color buildup.

Step 7: Final Cure

After all four colors are printed and flash-cured, run the garment through a conveyor dryer at the recommended curing temperature (280°F-320°F). Ensure the ink reaches full fusion to prevent washing issues.

Step 8: Inspection

Check the final print for color accuracy, registration, and overall quality. Make any necessary adjustments before running full production.

Step 9: Finished Product

Your full-color image is now complete, printed using Inktek Process Black and CMY inks for professional, high-detail results.

Additional Recommendations

  • Mesh count: 305-355 for optimal detail.
  • Extender base options: Use Soft Hand Clear or Process Clear for additional transparency adjustments.
  • Fusion temperature: Ensure full cure at 325°F for optimal ink clarity and gloss.
  • Clean-up: Use standard spray/wipe cleaning methods for easy removal of ink residue.

Always conduct a test print before full production to verify print quality and ensure ink compatibility with your substrates. Inktek Process Black delivers deep, consistent blacks that enhance the contrast and richness of your four-color process prints.
