Printers Choice Water Base Spot Black – Easy to Print With for Exceptional Results

Printers Choice Water Base Spot Black is an exceptionally deep black ink formulated for water-based printing. This ink is Ready-For-Use (RFU) and offers outstanding opacity, resulting in rich and vibrant colors. Printers Choice Spot Black boasts a thicker viscosity compared to standard water-based inks, yet its unique rheology enables it to effortlessly pass through higher mesh counts. This characteristic ensures the reproduction of intricate image details and a smoother finish.

With Printers Choice Spot Black, you can confidently engage in long print runs without worrying about the ink drying in the screen. This ink is specifically designed for use with suitable, non-coated cotton fabrics and certain polyester blends. However, it’s advisable to conduct a substrate test initially to ensure optimal ink performance on your chosen material. Discover the depth and richness of your prints with Printers Choice Spot Black.

Technical Specifications

Preparation:

  • Screen preparation requires applying a water-resistant emulsion to prevent stencil breakdown during printing.
  • For extended print runs, it is recommended to post-harden the stencils.
  • If using a pigment system, mix in the desired pigment shade or level.
  • If needed, Spot Black can be thinned with water, up to a maximum of 10%.

Application:

  • The amount of squeegee pressure should be determined by the mesh/fabric count in use, with heavier pressure typically preferred.
  • Printing wet-on-wet without flash curing or using a print-flash-print method can enhance opacity.
  • Occasionally misting on-press screens with water during long print runs can be beneficial.
  • Cure the printed fabric for a minimum of 90 seconds at 320°F, ideally extending to 2-3 minutes at 340-350°F.
  • Utilizing high-volume forced air during curing is recommended for best results.
  • Proper curing is crucial for achieving optimal color and wash fastness.
  • To extend the wet ink’s open time and prevent screen drying, consider adding Matsui’s Retarder, up to 5%.
